Slow Week

Spencer's blog will just be pictures this week.  He said he had a pretty slow week since he and Elder Dio are getting over some kind of "bug".  Enjoy the pictures of Cauayan.  These were taken a couple weeks ago.

Not Such a Good Week!

Hello Family!!

As the title says, I did not have such a good week.  My stomach was pretty bad and I had a "low grade" fever (as mom told me) of 99.5.  I am recovering quite nicly:)  I am learning to be self reliant so I didn't call the mission nurse for help. LOL  I started feeling sick on Thursday afternoon... which is Wednsday night there.. and I just started eating again yesterday night.

I haven't got your package yet but I'm hoping that I get 3 packeges Thursday at zone conference!!  Early Christmas for me. :) Tell Meaghen that her Honor Society award is amazing tell her congrats for me. :)  I can't believe dad went camping...WHAT!?!?!?  It probably was a lot like Father & Son's overnight. I still can't believe it. LOL
We are in Cauyan today for "P" day.  It is closer to our house than Kabankalan because we decided to go hiking this morning.  It is really beautiful here.
Well I gotta go:) I will have pics and alot to report next time..hehe.  Love you!

P-Days are always fun!

Hello Family,

We just got to Kabankalan after an hour drive from home. This is where we spend some of our "Prep" days on Monday. The ride wasn't so wonderful but at least we made it. (Just kidding, Grandma! :) ) After talking and emails, we are going shopping and eating. LOL
Love this picture of Christ and little boy

This week was great. We got 10 new investigators. Me and Elder Dio have meet with all of them and are hoping they will come to church next week. They are all so amazing and loving. We were able to meet with some of them through our recent converts. It's been awesome.

I heard about Paris. It is really sad to hear about the terrorist attacks. As mom said, "Heaven has been pretty busy the last few days." We pray for them and hope that Heavenly Father will give them peace.

I also heard that Aunt Julie and Uncle Matt are moving. That's good for them. I hope there will still be room for family reunion sleepovers! Oh.....are you taking Charlie with you? He doesn't bother me when I am there. :)

This is short, but have to go shopping to make sure I have food to eat this week and I can't think of anything else to share! Hahaha Love you all so much and miss you too.

Working Hard and Long

Hello Family,

I don't really have much to report this week.  We have been working really hard on our less active families, but it hasn't been going well.  They feel that church isn't necessary since they have been baptized.  It's hard but we work with them and pray for them.

Things are going great.  I really love this area.  Probably my favorite.  Me and Elder Dio do great together and really are working hard.

Mission Swag

I have downloaded pictures so mom will be happy.  Thank you so much for all of your packages.  I REALLY LOVE THEM ALL!

Talk to you next week.

It's already November! What!?!

House Pet - Toku
Hello Family!!

Its already November.. holy crap!!  It's gone so fast I can't believe it!

So I learned 2 things this week.  Filipinos are deaf.... and they treat dogs and God the same way.  So for the first thing, they asked me, "Where are you going?" and I said "Kabankalan"....... and they respond... "Cauyan"...I was like ....."uhh... no."

(**mom insert:  I think his American accent has a lot to do with it and not the deafness of the Philippine people. Unfortunately, I don't think Spencer realizes that ! )

Elder Dio, Jan and Elder Evans.
Kabankalan is where we spend our Mondays.  I go shopping there and whatever other stuff we have to do on our P-Day.

The second thing is that they have no respect for dogs.. they kick them throw stuff at them... just nothing nice and they treat God the same way. They don't give God the respect he deserves and they don't wanna go to church.  It hurts me so much to see their desire to learn of God disappear.  I didn't know what it ment to love as Christ before my mission.  Now I do.

I found another favorite hymn: Prayer is the Soul's Sincere Desire.  I read it in personal study and it really made me feel the Spirit.  The words are amazing and have helped me this week.
Zone Activity

Not much more has happened this week. Thank you for all the emails and packages.  I love you all TONS!! Talk to ya next week.

Elder Evans
